Summer of 1994, Anchorage Alaska
I'm standing on stage
With Don McLean
Microphone in hand, trembling
We sing about American Pie
Transporting ourselves back to the 50s, the 60s
We were happy for a while
We dreamed of rosy futures ..
Watching, as our dreams
Faded into memory
Bye, bye Miss American Pie

How wonderful, Helen! Did anyone do a video back then? I bet you grew more confident with time. Did you continue singing?
Yes, Ms. Rosaria ... I sang with a great group of women for years!
How cool is that. Voice is the only instrument I ever played well. Very nice.
nice....way cool....what a memory...def want to see the video..smiles...
No video, only memory.
Helen..!!!!
Wow...What a cool thing.
If you are going to be famous for one song...THATS the ONE!
And you sang with him?
The thrill of a lifetime!!!
Loved your 55 My Friend.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
I am not surprised...you have always struck me as an adventurous lady! This makes for a great memory!!
XO,
Jane
Classic tune; classy lady. Yup, that fits together. Facilitated by Don himself.
Utterly fantastic moment in history!
Ahhhhhh, what a sweet and memorable moment.
You've been there and done a lot of very neat things in your life!!!!
Aren't we glad we have memories!!!!
what an amazing experience. this is the rosy future, huh?:)
great thing to look back on. Do you get royalties?
More background ~ my travel agency and Northwest Airlines partnered to produce an outdoor concert in Anchorage. Great PR for them (their Alaska itineraries) and for us! We hired Don McLean, Fabian, Lou Christie, Mitch Ryder, The Shirelles, others whose names totally escape me. We had a blast!
Hi Helen! Oh, how marvelous! I would love to hear you sing and you sang with the Don! Oh, I just loved his smooth voice. I'm a soloist too but don't sing so much much anymore.
Thanks for popping in to see me and you were a travel agent too? What have you not done, Dear One! ;)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Lets all stay forever young
wow ~ now that's what i call more than a brush with celebrity...really cool story, helen - as friko says, what a fun thing to look back on!
Fun!
And great memoir fodder!
55 words--wow! I'm trying to think if it would be fun to me to count words like that. I guess it could be. Anyway, you wrote very well of a lovely memory.
The American Pie ain't over yet, we just need to rethink the dream.
Wow! An amazing story! Hope you are having a great week!...hugs...Debbie
